Before and after your massage in Wallingford: a quick guide

Before you arrive for your massage in Wallingford, there are a few things you can do to get the most out of your massage. A little preparation and simple aftercare goes a long way. Here’s a quick guide to helping you relax, reset and prolong the benefits.

What to wear and how to prepare

  • If you have long hair, please tie it up in a soft top knot. Just so you don’t lie on it and it’s not in the way when it comes to your neck and shoulder massage.

  • Preferably wear underwear that allows easy access to your gluteal muscles if you want them worked. This is especially the case for deep tissue work!

  • Wear loose, easy-to-change clothing for before and after your appointment.

What to share with your therapist

  • Only share medical information that does (or could) affect your treatment or the way I carry out your massage. Keeping you safe and healthy is a top priority.

  • We’ll capture relevant information in your online booking form but if there’s anything else to add, let me know before we get started.

  • More generally, I’ll ask about areas of pain, tension and soreness, including injuries. Or whether there’s any areas of your body you don’t want me to touch (e.g. sensitive or tickly feet!).

Other helpful tips

  • Eat lightly beforehand to avoid discomfort when lying face down.

  • Please arrive on time to allow a smooth transition between clients.

  • Take a deep breath, unwind and enjoy some well-needed ‘you’ time.

After Your Massage: Simple Aftercare

Right after your session

  • Move slowly off the couch. It's normal to feel a bit groggy or sleepy after a massage.

  • Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

  • Take a few moments before jumping back into a busy schedule.

Later that day / next day

  • Wait at least 12 hours before doing intense physical activity to aid muscle recovery.

  • You might experience some mild soreness, especially after deep tissue work. It feels similar to post-workout tenderness.

  • Gentle stretching or a warm bath can help ease any stiffness.
